Trustmark also includes an integrated Trading Standards disputes process, offering a controlled and reasonable sanctions process if needed.

Checkatrade runs strict background checks on tradespeople before they can become members. Once they join, members agree to have feedback from their customers put online for all to see. The background checks and public feedback ensure that only reliable and trusted tradespeople get work through Checkatrade. To show their commitment to service and quality, every single member agrees to uphold The Checkatrade Standard.

The Dulux guarantee is available for painting and decorating work on private residential premises in the UK which is carried out by an approved Dulux Select Decorator using the AkzoNobel brand portfolio: Dulux Trade, Sikkens, Armstead, Hammerite, Cuprinol Trade and Polycell Trade. If the scheme member defaults on their guarantee Dulux will ensure they or another scheme member within the liability of the guarantee, complete the work to a satisfactory level.

When a trader scheme offers a trading standards approved accreditation it means they are working closely with one or more trading standards teams to ensure that their vetting criteria and operation of the scheme meet, minimum standards set by trading standards. Surrey Council have found that each scheme actually exceeds these standards in different ways depending on their priorities.
